Getting To Us

How far is the office from your part of Northwest Denver?

Northwest Denver runs from the river to Sheridan and from Colfax to the Regis campus, so “close to LoHi” means different things in Berkeley than it does in Jefferson Park. Here is what the drive actually looks like from the neighborhoods we see the most clients from.

Edgewater, Wheat Ridge, Arvada32nd or 38th Avenue east12 to 18 min

You do not have to make the drive at all to get started. Most first conversations happen by phone or video, and if your injuries make travel hard, an attorney will come to you at home or at the hospital.

Why People Choose This Firm

Why Northwest Denver clients choose this firm.

There is no shortage of injury lawyers advertising on Federal and I-25. The people who hire us from this side of the city tend to be looking for four specific things.

Every case is built for trial.

Insurers value a claim by what happens if it does not settle. Our cases are prepared from the first week as though a Denver jury will decide them, and our verdicts are why the offers change.

You are known by name.

The attorney who meets with you is the attorney on your case. You will have a direct line, a paralegal assigned to your file, and updates you do not have to chase.

No upfront costs. No fees unless we win.

The consultation is free and we work on a contingency fee. If there is no recovery, you owe us nothing. We do not add interest to case costs.

Se habla español.

Northwest Denver is a bilingual part of the city and so is this office. You can work with a Spanish-speaking team member from the first call through settlement or trial. Ask for it on the form below or when you call.

What We See From Northwest Denver

The injuries that come out of this part of the city.

Geography shapes cases. Northwest Denver mixes high-speed arterials, a river and bridge that funnel bikes and pedestrians downtown, and blocks of active construction. The cases that walk into this office cluster into familiar patterns.

After A Crash In Northwest Denver

What to do in the first week.

Get checked, even if you feel fine. Soft tissue, concussion, and disc injuries often take a day or two to show themselves, and adrenaline hides a lot at the scene. An early medical visit protects your health and creates the record your claim will rest on.

Get the report. Crashes on Denver city streets are handled by the Denver Police Department, and the report is available through DPD Records. Crashes on I-25 and I-70 are usually worked by the Colorado State Patrol. We pull the right report and the 911 audio for you as part of the case.

Do not give a recorded statement. The other driver’s insurer will call quickly and ask for one. You are not required to give it, and those statements are regularly used against people. Talk to a lawyer first.

Know the deadlines. Most Colorado car crash claims must be settled or filed within three years of the crash (C.R.S. § 13-80-101(1)(n)); most other injury claims carry two years. If the City and County of Denver, RTD, or another public entity is involved, written notice is due within 182 days under the Colorado Governmental Immunity Act.

Serving Northwest Denver

A local firm, in your part of the city.

A serious injury does not stay in one place. It follows you into work, into your family’s routine, and into every appointment you did not plan for. Having lawyers in your part of the city means the people building your case know the intersection where it happened and the courthouse where it will be decided.

From the LoHi office we handle car and truck collisions, pedestrian and cyclist injuries, premises cases, and wrongful death claims across Northwest Denver. Every case is prepared as though a Denver jury will decide it, because that is what changes what an insurer is willing to pay.

Where These Cases Are Heard

The courts that decide Denver injury claims.

Most Denver injury cases are filed in the Second Judicial District at the City and County Building on Bannock Street, about ten minutes from this office. Knowing how those courtrooms run, and which judges set which schedules, is part of how a case is prepared rather than an afterthought.

Denver District Court

Second Judicial District, City and County Building, 1437 Bannock Street. Handles civil injury claims above the county court limit, including most serious personal injury and wrongful death cases.

Denver County Court

Handles smaller civil claims. Located downtown alongside the district court.

United States District Court, District of Colorado

Alfred A. Arraj Courthouse, 901 19th Street. Where cases involving federal claims or out-of-state defendants may be filed, including some civil rights and interstate trucking matters.

Where Crashes Happen Here

The roads we see cases from.

Northwest Denver has a mix of high-speed arterials and dense residential streets, which is why so many of the injuries we handle here involve people on foot or on a bike rather than only drivers.

Interstate 25 and the Speer interchange

Merging traffic, short ramps, and heavy congestion produce rear-end and lane-change collisions, often at speeds high enough to cause serious injury.

Federal Boulevard

One of Denver’s widest and busiest arterials, with long distances between signalized crossings. A recurring source of pedestrian and turning-vehicle collisions.

West 38th and West 32nd Avenues

Commercial corridors with angled parking, frequent turning movements, and cyclists sharing the lane. Dooring and right-hook collisions are common.

Speer Boulevard and the Highland Bridge

Heavy pedestrian and bicycle traffic between LoHi and downtown, crossing lanes that carry commuter volume.

Common Questions

Questions about our LoHi office.

Do I have to come to the office?

No. Most first conversations happen by phone or video, and if your injuries make travel difficult we will come to you, at home or at the hospital.

I was taken to Denver Health. Will you meet me there?

Yes. Denver Health is the region’s Level I trauma center and many of our Northwest Denver clients start there or at Saint Joseph. An attorney can meet you or your family at the hospital, and we handle the records requests from there.

How long do I have to file a claim in Denver?

Three years from a motor vehicle crash under C.R.S. § 13-80-101(1)(n), and two years for most other injury claims. If the City and County of Denver or RTD is involved, written notice is due within 182 days.

Who investigated my crash, and how do I get the report?

City streets are Denver Police. I-25 and I-70 are usually Colorado State Patrol. Each agency releases reports differently, and the report often has errors that need correcting early. We request it for you as one of the first steps in the case.

Where would my case actually be filed?

Most serious injury claims arising in Denver are filed in Denver District Court, part of the Second Judicial District. Where the case belongs depends on where the crash happened and who the defendant is.

What does it cost to talk to a lawyer here?

Nothing. The consultation is free and we work on a contingency fee, so there is no fee unless we recover for you.
